Based on the success and contribution to improving teachers' professional development and the quality of mathematics education that has resulted from the "Collaborative Studies on Learning Mathematics in Different Cultures" series of projects, this complementary project investigates the applications of the Lesson Study approach in the learning and teaching of languages.

Lesson Study Seminar
Language teachers and researchers from 12 APEC member economies brought fascinating reports of positive practitioner responses to Lesson Study as a professional development activity for language teachers. Their reports were shared during the Lesson Study Track of the Inaugural APEC-SEAMEO RELC International Seminar 2010 Language Education: An Essential for a Global Economy in Singapore April 19-21.
In each economy, researchers and teachers teamed up to plan, execute and assess a Lesson Study in one or more language classrooms.
